Intergenerational Humor

Much to my husband's chagrin, one of our kitchen cupboards holds a plethora of plastic tableware in various shapes, sizes, and hues. We use it for quick lunches. Some of my children are rather zealous about making sure a place setting matches---heaven forbid a green cup is placed next to a yellow bowl. And of course, they all have a favorite color which must be set before them.

One afternoon last week my oldest was sitting at the table in front of a medium blue setting (of course) when her grandfather (sometimes known as Joachim) decided to take the seat next to her. As he lowered himself into the place set with bright pink plastic, Elena started laughing.

"What's so funny?" he asked.

"Grandpa, your dishes are pink!"

He casually shrugged and quipped back, "That's okay. They match my underpants."

Now who says seniors can't relate to teens? We all bust up laughing every time this story is retold.

Do my kids have a great Grandpa or what? Actually, they have two.
