Blessed Are the Peacemakers

Does every family have one of these? A kind, generous soul caught smack dab in the middle of two very strong sisters who both want to rule her world. Being ever the sensitive one so eager to please, she is set up for failure so many times, as the requests of her two unknowing commanders often conflict. No matter what she does---and it's rarely what she really wants to do---she finds that one of them is disappointed with her. Bless her sweet little heart.

As the mother who watches, I am constantly torn between wanting to help her preserve her gentle, selfless spirit and teaching her to assert herself so she is not so easily trampled. Such a delicate balance. It's times like these that break a little piece of this mother's heart. She is my living example of the Beatitudes.

And all she really wants to be is a horse.

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." (Matt 5:9)

Sigh. I have one of those, who just wants to be a knight. His older and younger siblings are relentless in demanding things from him. I know too well how you are feeling, Diane.
