Going, Going, Not Quite Gone

Elena has been away from home since last Tuesday, doing some intensive training for track season with her basketball/running buddy, so we've gotten a taste of what life will be like around here next fall when she heads off to college.

I have to say.............I don't like it.

And neither does her roommate Mariana.

It's been a long, dull, someone-is-definitely-missing sort of week.

Far fewer demands on my time and attention, for sure, but that's something I'm willing to trade for her sunshine and life.

She's ready to fly....I'm just not quite ready to open my mama wings and let her take off.

Thankfully, she'll be back tonight, and I still have a few more months to savor my Elena moments, a few more months to get ready.

Who am I kidding? I'll never be ready.

Do you think she'll unblock me from her Facebook chat when she gets to Steubenville?

Can a Mama ever be fully ready for this?
What a beautiful daughter you have and what an awesome relationship you have with her.
You are such a great Mom.
