Our First Sunday of Advent

Highlights from today:

+ A reverent Mass celebrated in a beautiful parish

+ A delicious brunch (including both bacon and Krispy Kreme doughnuts) generously prepared by my Main Squeeze

+ Listening to the comments from Jacinta and Charlie as they assembled our table top Advent tree with Jim (who convinced me that a cheap, plastic three-foot tree would be better than the real thing...at least for this week...he obviously has a way with words...or something like that)

+ The shaker peg racks that Jim painted and hung to hold the kids' coats (because hangers are far too complicated for children to figure out, at least that's what I must assume since they are never used here)

+ A hearty beef and barley soup shared with my sister and her kids (good food tastes so much better with good company)

+ Watching Elena and Valya perform with the talented Kettering Children's Choir in their first concert of the year (although I'm not sure which was more entertaining---KCC or my younger kids and their cousins as they tried so hard to sit quietly for two-plus hours)

+ The cream puffs, brownies, and punch served at the reception following the concert (this was certainly the highlight of the concert for my younger kids and their cousins---and they deserved it!)

+ The sight of ten children kneeling in the candlelight before Our Lady of Fatima to pray our nightly decade of the Rosary

All in all, a very good day. Though not much was accomplished, the important stuff happened.

I can't wait to see what God has in mind for the rest of Advent.
