Sometimes I do the right thing

This afternoon, after our long day of final soccer games, my husband asked me to take a nap with him. My initial reaction was...ARE YOU CRAZY? I had a million reasons to say no. My in-laws were arriving back from Germany tonight and the house was a wreck, I'm way behind on school planning, and several baskets of clothes are waiting to be folded. Surely, he would understand that I couldn't just stop and take a nap with him. Of course I should tell him maybe tomorrow.

But I didn't. I took a nap. Because he is the most precious person in the world to me, and sometimes I have to show him that. He needs to know that I will drop everything for him. Even when it doesn't fit with my plans. Especially when it doesn't fit with my plans.

And you know what? He got up before me, went grocery shopping, and made dinner. (I married well.) The house wasn't perfect when my in-laws arrived, but I think they were grateful to be met by a son who was content and felt loved.

Really...when you think about it...clean the house or take a nap with your beloved? It's really a no-brainer. Just wish I could get it right more often.

I say nap I always say nap though lol! Seriously, you can't go wrong following a dh's lead though. So often we think we know better only to break their hearts in little ways. Then we wonder why they become calloused : /

Way to go Mom! I can appreciate the greatness of that decision. It is so hard to put things in perspective when you are the Mom, Wife, homekeeper... I so often choose the cleaning, always wanting the inlaws to be impressed, or at least not disturbed when they come over. But it is so silly, when contentment often has nothing to do with the state of the house. I want to follow your example.

This is such a great story; I love it. Our husbands are really not that hard to please! You're right....it's such a "no-brainer!"
